Reader Finds Multiple Pink and White Worms in Multiple Locations

Share the knowledge

Small, white or pink worms have been found in a multitude of places by this reader in College Place, Washington. These locations include various spots in her home, inside herself, and in her dog. Our reader is understandably concerned and asks for our help in identifying these worms.

In conjunction with a collection of photographs, which are much appreciated, our reader provided plenty of context as well. These worms, which appear to be small in size, and either white or pink have been discovered in the following places: the kitchen drain, the dishwasher, food, and under her refrigerator. She adds that she has “seen them when flossing” and when she blows her nose. She does not clarify if she actually finds them in her teeth and in her nose, but we assume this is what she means. This does really give us context as to how small these worms really are. Our reader guesses that she and her dog may be infested, as they have been “passing similar matter,” for example, they have both experienced “eye discharge.” In addition to this, she states that the worms are always dead when she finds them. She says that no one believes her when she informs them of her situation.

Although we wish to help our reader as much as possible, given that the context of her situation is partly medical in nature, we will not be able to provide an identification, as it is not our place to diagnose people, assuming that these are parasites. This is because we are not medical professionals, so we cannot provide diagnoses, nor can we provide treatment. As a consequence, we instead encourage our reader to consult a medical professional who can provide these things. Otherwise, an alternative, or supplement, is to consult an infectious disease specialist. To find one, our reader can simply do a Google search of “infectious disease specialist (name of her city)”, or “travel disease specialist” (name of her city).”

When evaluating the photographs, the worms look very different in every image, though to be fair, the images of food remind us of a “Where’s Waldo” picture book; it is extremely difficult to spot the worms! Perhaps it is possible that our reader is dealing with multiple species of worms? It is possible that one species of worm infested our reader’s home, and was subsequently ingested by our reader and/or her dog; that worm was then carrying a parasite of its own which then transferred to our reader/her dog. Of course, this is all guesswork. And it is curious that every worm was found dead, which makes one think they are all the same species, or at least connected in some way.

We apologize to our reader that we seem to be asking more questions than answering them. We have not seen a case quite like this before, and it is definitely a touch one to crack. The fact that the worms were different colors, being either white or pink, and additionally that they were found in so many different locations makes it challenging to even begin to attempt to identify these critters.

To conclude, the identity (or identities) of the worms discovered by our reader remains inconclusive. That is partly due to the ramifications of these circumstances being very strange, and mostly due to the fact that this situation is medical in nature, and we are not qualified to provide the advice and treatment our reader requires.

  1. It’s sad really because I know how she feels. I’m going through the same thing and they’re literally eating my house. They’re in the walls they’re in the carpet ceiling food me my dogs and all the pictures she sent you are the same kind of worms I’m dealing with. But my basement seems like that’s where I’m finding the map in the crazy thing is they’re around the sewer pipe that’s in my basement under my steps where it is wet moldy and damp they’re eating literally through the register vents down there it’s just it’s gotten bad my landlord says no it’s okay. Some of those are black, their mean, and they bite. I have used everything to try to get rid of them and Advantage is the only thing I have found that actually kills them and but they love wet moldy areas. I think my neighbors think I’m nuts because I’m sweeping all the time cuz I have hardwood floors and of course my landlord put vinyl over moldy unclean floors. I wish someone new what we are dealing with. I’m definitely dealing with the same thing she’s dealing with and my food they’re in my refrigerator they’re in my freezer they’re literally eating the frames around door ways and on my clothes bras panties everything I have holes in them. It’s just crazy, because even if you get them cleared out of your house you got to get them cleared out of you and your animals and how do you do that when you can’t find a doctor that wants to listen to you or believe you? Good luck to anyone dealing with mites crossed with worms.
