So what’s the deal with Worms 4 Mayhem? The creators of Worms 4: Mayhem, Team 17, say that the video game is “as infectious and accessible as the classic Worms offerings.” Worms 4 Mayhem has both multi-player and single player capability. The game has five themed zones including Jurassic, Camelot, Arabian, Construction and Wild West. Team 17 has enhanced the landscapes by making them larger and more destructible than ever before and the effects have been upgraded as well. The worms’ armoury will remain the same, but now the game has an even bigger choice of weapons.
The Worms 4 Mayhem weapons list includes: bazooka, homing missile, shotgun, sniper rifle, poison arrow, grenade, cluster bomb, gas canister, banana bomb, fire punch, prod, baseball bat, mine, dynamite, mine, air strike, sheep, old lady, inflatable scouser, super sheep, tail nail, starburst, jet pack, ninja rope, icarus potion, parachute, and girder. There are so many weapons, that we just don’t have enough room to list all of the descriptions here. What we can do is list a few descriptions, directly from the Worms 4 Mayhem website.
Icarus Potion
“The only real piece of advice for this utility is to pace yourself, when lifting off the floor maintain a steady rhythm and don’t get excited. As soon as you start to flap faster you’ll lose the rhythm and start to sink. Steady presses of the button will provide enough speed for your requirements and get you where you want to be.”
Girder
“This has been restricted for this version of Worms; it’s now more of an aiming aid, allowing you to get a better angle, to fire from. If you are presented with a large hill in front of you which needs to be aimed over then situating a Girder to help get up the slope is always useful.
It is still useful as a pseudo-shield from the enemy, merely placing it above your head (or statue, depending on your game mode) will give you that extra one or two turns which you may need to turn the tables on the baddies.”
Team 17 has made several advancements to the single-player modes. According to the official Worms 4 Mayhem website, “there’s even more beyond the day-to-day business of destroying worms. Through the 25 missions, you’re also charged with objectives such as recovering items or smashing scenery. All the single-player maps are available to play in multiplayer mode, along with a further set of 20 multiplayer-specific maps.”
Other upgrades include: bold levels, an improved 3D camera and animation system, and a “stunning” arsenal delivering comedy kabooms. Although still lovable, the worms in Worms 4 Mayhem are still customizable, but entirely destructible.
