One reader wrote us very worried and scared about what she found in her toilet. The description that she gave us was very interesting. After we have done our research, there are a number of things this could be. We do not want to make any type of suggestion because we are not medical professionals. Our reader is in touch with a doctor about her case, which is the most important factor. If any of our readers ever find worms in their urine or stool, the first step is to contact a doctor as soon as possible.
Because we are not medical professionals, we do not feel right giving any sort of suggestion about what these worms could be. We are sharing her email so that our readers know what to look out for if they feel they have seen worms in their urine. This email may help others to seek medical advice to see what these worms really are. That said, these worms do have the same dimensions as horsehair worms and they do end up in toilets at times. Horsehair worms however have no connection to humans.

One reader wrote, “I have a question for you. I have read all of your articles and found them very informative. The attached pictures are taken of two wormlike creatures found after urinating. The toilet had not been flushed before I urinated, but I had only noticed the ant floating in the water — nothing else. After urinating, I immediately noticed two wormlike creatures floating perfectly straight in the water, heads at surface, and their bodies almost sticklike straight underneath them. I freaked out and ran to get a jar and when I came back they had changed shape and become more squiggly and loose and one floated on top, one on the bottom. I was able to capture the top one and I immediately took to my family doctor. He was completely baffled, and it was sent to a lab, along with a stool sample. However, it is going to take a while for results (another 7 days). Until then, I was hoping you might have heard or seen something like this. The worm creatures are actually quite unique looking and both had identical markings and size. The first one was about 3.5 inches long and the second was about 4-4.5 inches long. Without a microscope- the body has an almost shimmery pattern on it of dark gray/black and then white/silvery and has tiny segments. No obvious legs. The body when squeezed gently had surprising strength to it and that greatly worried me.
I have not traveled out of the country in 10 years nor do I eat undercooked meats or fish. (To my knowledge) The only possible contact with parasites that I can even think of are when I was a guest at a guest house which was filthy and by the ocean and there were fish guts everywhere. Because of circumstances, I had to spend the night and I immediately left the next morning. Also, a year ago, I had a new pet fancy goldfish, which had a problem with parasites which I was treating- while transferring him, he slipped and I grabbed him with my bare hand. I quickly dumped him back in the water and washed my hands thoroughly. However, later that day I noticed two bright pink dots on the palm of my hand and they did not go away till the following day.
I am currently taking garlic and coconut oil which I understand are natural anti-parasitics.”
In summary, we do hope our reader can find the answers that she needs from her doctor. It is great that she has been seeing one for this problem. We can only send positive thoughts of healing to her.
