“I’m always seeing these things like thread, on just about anything and everything, all throughout my house, and some seem to be colored”, writes Brian in his submission regarding the thin, worm-like organism pictured below. “I was given this microscope for my birthday. As curious as I am, I’m always looking through it (can’t say ‘through it’ cause, as you see, it is on a screen. And I think the instructions say it magnetizes between 50 to 1,000x. I mean, it can bring a piece of lint from the dryer to about the size you see here. Now that I know they are all over the house, I’m curious about what they are. Seeing your web page got me thinking about worms now. So, I’m wondering if it’s possible that you can tell me what they might be? Thank You.”

“I pray you receive some of my emails and can help with identifying these”, writes this reader in his submission regarding the two, distinctly different-looking organisms pictured below. “I have hours of digital footage on a cheap microphone and so many pics. I live in Richmond Hill, Georgia.” Firstly, we have to point out that, from what we can tell by looking at these photos, it looks like they were taken through a microscope. We cannot know that for certain, but when we compare it to other submissions we have received where the photos were taken like that, the similarity is significant. In any case, the photos have a strange quality about them.

“Are these worms?” asks Rene in their submission regarding the pink object pictured below. “This is a high resolution photo of ‘debris’ in my shower drain and in my bathroom that are not visible to the naked eye. Thank you.” Rene sent in multiple photos, the first of which we included below (and the only one showing a worm-like organism), and we are not sure which photo Rene is referring to as being “high resolution”, or if they accidentally forgot to send in that picture, because none of the photos included in the submission were high resolution. Like the photo below, they were all very blurry.

“Have you ever seen this before?” asks this reader in her submission. “I KNOW I have some sort of intestinal parasite, and my doctor agrees.”

“I have found these continually on my clothes and in my bed sheets even!” says this reader about the light brown “larvae” pictured below. Our reader asks us if we have any ideas as to what these might be.

“It seems to contain worms” says this reader about the organisms she has been finding on her wood laminate floor in her bedroom. She hopes that we can identify the worms she has found, though every picture seems to display something different.

One of our readers sent us a picture of a worm-like creature under the microscope. He said that it was about a quarter of the thickness of a hair and it was not possible to see it with the human eye. He wonders what it is, and we think that one possibility is that it could be a horsehair worm.
